Images andscans can be converted either through the iOCR (Tesseract / GoogleOCR) or alternatively through probably the best OCR engine fromAbbyy into searchable PDFs. PDF / A-3b asthe output format, the original documents in the PDF are compressedembedded and therefore provide an ideal base for long-termarchiving. The ISO standardized PDF / A-3 provides preview, searchand print option and in addition all documents in the originalformat are embedded in PDF and can be opened from there or beexported at any time. The ZUGFeRD format is a special type of thePDF / A-3b format for electronic invoicing and contains themetadata of the PDF invoice embedded in an XML file.
